Surfsight Camera Troubleshooting

If the dashcam is not responding, it can be reset following these steps.

Solution 1 – Forced Power Cycle

This option is typically used as a forced power cycle when the dashcam may act frozen or just needs to be hard power cycled to try refreshing the cellular attempt by the camera. You can also Power Cycle through the camera’s settings (access to settings shown in next step), though this is a hard Power Cycle instead of a soft Power Cycle via camera settings.

Locate the Reset button on the side of the dashcam.

Long press the Reset button for five (5) seconds.

Wait for the camera to power back up. This may take up to five minutes.

The screen will go blank and the dashcam will restart automatically.

Solution 2 – Factory Reset Using the Camera’s Settings

This option is typically used if something like the SIM Number isn’t being recognized by the camera, cellular is not being established (after confirming with us the SIM is definitely active), or any other possible issues the camera may be having.

Wake up the dash cam and put in the default PIN of 3333, or use your own PIN if you have already created one.

Go to the Settings screen.

Scroll down to the bottom and click on Factory Reset.

A prompt will appear confirming your selection. Click Yes to reset the dashcam.

After a Factory Reset, you will need to rescan the APN QR code. Go to Add APN (Right below Wi-Fi) in the Settings menu, and scan the QR code below.

A confirmation screen will pop up for data641003. Once you have completed it, go back to the Settings menu and go to Select APN to confirm that data641003 is selected.

For More Information From the Dashcam

Enter the default PIN of 3333, or use your own PIN if you’ve already set it up.

Press Settings to open another menu.

Scroll down and press on More Info. This window should appear.

Key Pieces of Information:

  • Sim Card Number. If no number appears, it means the dash cam has not recognized the new SIM Card.
  • Operator. Which network the SIM is connected to.
  • Signal Strength. If it is poor, the SIM may be fine, but you could be in an area with a low signal. The dash cam displays a Cellular Signal icon with three bars.
  • APN in Use. This is the access point between the device and the network. This information can be useful for troubleshooting. Make sure it says data641003 as shown in the picture above.
