At times, there may be a need to download geographic data for your Locations.
There are two types of download:
- Download only the name, address, and coordinates of the Location. The output KML file contains one Placemark with the coordinates of each Location.
- Download the name, address, coordinates, and geofence of the Location. The output KML file contains two consecutive Placemarks, one for the coordinates of the Location, and one for the geofence of the Location.
The output format is compatible with Google Maps and other GIS applications. Since there is a file size limit when uploading to Google Maps, the KML files may be divided into two or more parts to ensure that the file size limit is not exceeded.
Since this is not a frequently used process, the menu items for the downloads must be enabled first.
Follow these steps to enable the download menu items:
- Go to the Hello… menu and click on Edit My Profile.
- Select the Special tab.
- Check Locations: Enable Download Locations KML.
- Click OK to save the changes.
To download the Location data in KML format:
- Go to the Locations menu. The Download menu items will be displayed.
- Click on either link.
- When the Download form is displayed, click on the Download button.
- Click on the Close button.
After downloading, if you wish to remove the Download links:
- Go to the Hello… menu and click on Edit My Profile.
- Select the Special tab.
- Uncheck Locations: Enable Download Locations KML.
- Click OK to save the changes.
