Learn the vocabulary, terminology, and key definitions you will encounter when using the system.
Location
Any physical position on the surface of the earth. Locations are usually associated to places at specific addresses but can also be used to define a geographic area (geofences).
Geofence
A boundary around a location. If no geofence is specified for a location, a small configurable geofence is assumed.
Worker
Any human that provides transportation services.
Alert
Created when an event meets certain conditions (a trigger).
Trigger
Created when an event meets certain conditions (a trigger).
The conditions needed to turn an event into an alert.
Event
Any action recorded at any time. The event contains both position and related data. For example, a recorded speed of 75 miles per hour at a specific point on a road.
Vehicle
Any motorized conveyance that is used to carry goods or provide transportation for workers.
Admin Group
A grouping for trips, vehicles and workers for administrative purposes.
GPS Unit
Any physical device that can provide location data (latitude, longitude and time), telematics data (OBD or from other sensors), and/or camera data (snapshots, video clips, and/or livestreaming).
Plan
All the work to be done within a 24 hour period. A plan day can start at midnight (businesses working during the day) or at a time earlier or later than midnight (businesses working overnight).
There are two types of plans:
Daily plans are used for all the work to be done on a specific date.
Template plans are used to create daily plans, specifying the resource to do work, and optionally, work to be done.
Trip
Also known as a route or a schedule, the work to be done by one vehicle and/or worker in a single plan day.
Job
The planned work to be done at a known location. Jobs may be assigned to trips before the start of the plan day or may be determined from the vehicle stops made during the day.
