The Route Optimization Application is usually deployed in one of these five configurations with customization to meet the user (tenant) needs. The Map on the Main Screen displays information based on the configuration.
- Basic – GPS tracking with optional telematics and cameras, and no planned routes.
- Planned – GPS tracking with optional telematics and cameras, and preplanned routes.
- Manual – drag & drop assignment of work to vehicles with optional GPS tracking.
- Optimization for Delivery – drag & drop and automated assignment of work to vehicles with optional GPS tracking.
- Optimization for Service – all of the Optimization for Delivery functions plus the ability to add or remove work during the workday.
Basic
This configuration displays the actual route and stops executed by the Vehicle. There are no planned routes, so the map displays stops after they occur. In this configuration the Worker determines the route and stops so a stop list cannot be displayed and no optimization is possible.
Usual locations can be entered and geofenced; stops are also identified by the amount of time that a vehicle is stopped along the route. Stops are identified by the letter icons along the route.
Planned
This configuration has planned stops for the Vehicle which can be displayed on the map. The stops are listed in the left column identified with letter icons which are also displayed on the map.
Each route or grouping of stops is a Trip; each Trip has a Vehicle and possibly a Worker assigned. The Trip also has a starting origin and final destination Location identified.
The stops assigned to the Trip are Jobs; the Jobs are ordered based on the Daily Plan. For more information read the training about Plans.
The map displays the stops before the occur and is updated with information as the Vehicle completes the Jobs on the Trip.
Manual
Optimization for Delivery
Optimization for Service
These three configurations are displayed the same way on the main screen; these have planned routes or Trips and have planned stops or Jobs to be accomplished for the day. These configurations also have the ability to add, change, and optimize the daily work.
Jobs which have not yet been assigned to a Trip are displayed in the left column; in the center column the Trips are displayed with Jobs already assigned. On the map the Trips and Jobs are displayed with the color and letter icons correlated to the lists in the center column.
Jobs can be added to the Daily Plan and either manually assigned or automatically optimized. For more information read the training about Plans – scroll down to Jobs on the Daily Plan. In the Manual configuration, simply drag Jobs from the left column to the Trip in the center column; the map will update to reflect the stops and route; Jobs within the Trip can be rearranged to improve the route.
For the Optimized configurations the Unassigned Jobs can be automatically assigned to Trips, and the population of Jobs on the Daily Plan optimized, simply click the Optimize Plan icon. For more information read the training about How Optimized Assignment Works. For information about the icons read the training about Using the Application.
